How do I make a userbox/template better?
- It really depends on what you want to improve. Do you have a specific template in mind? —dgiestc 04:14, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- If you mean your new userbox, I have moved it to a different location to comply with the policy WP:GUS. You Can find it at User:Slayerofangels/User AngelSlayer. —dgiestc 04:18, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Caladbolg
I would have if it was sourced, but I'm not going to incorporate further unsourced material into the article. The burden's on the one adding it; if you want the Final Fantasy mention in there so badly, source it and then incorporate it (not in its own section). However, the mention in Phantasy Star Online claims it is rarely seen in the game, so I don't think it's notable enough to be included anyway (imagine if we had to list every singe mention of Excalibur that has ever appeared in pop culture).--Cúchullain t/c 20:29, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
Good point. But what about the fair use image that you deleted from Excalibur? I tagged it wrong anyways. Slayerofangels 20:32, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
- Whatever the tag, if it's fair use, it can only be used to illustrate to object in question. The sword in the picture is not really Excalibur, it is a product supposed to look like it. If the article was about the product, we'd have a case for using it, but it's not. Thanks for removing it from my talk page. As to the trivia in Excalibur, basically I haven't gotten around to it yet (and neither has anyone else). The page needs a good round of general cleanup. But the section also is in a perferred format; it is arranged in prose rather than a bulleted list, so as to look less like a trivia section and more like a real paragraph.--Cúchullain t/c 20:51, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
But, the product is a replica of Excalibur and is placed in the section giving a description of said sword. There isn't a single decent picture of Excalibur on the page... Slayerofangels 21:55, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image:ExcaliburSword.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:ExcaliburSword.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 48 hours after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Abu badali (talk) 23:59, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
I don't see how its not fair use. I would like to see an image of Excalibur on the Excalibur page, rather than a painting that just happened to feature one legend of the weapon. The sword is barely visible in the image that was on the page and isn't truly focused on the sword. Slayerofangels 02:48, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- That doesn't matter. There are, I'm sure, dozens of free images of Excalibur out there, just because one hasn't been put on the page yet doesn't mean this one is irreplaceable. If you have further questions, you can follow the links above.--Cúchullain t/c 06:44, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
Just because you don't believe the image is great enough to be on your coveted Excalibur page doesn't mean that it shouldn't be there. Slayerofangels 16:48, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
- Don't take it like that. The issue is with the copyright. Like I said above, the image isn't of Excalibur, but a product meant to look like it; even if it is a picture of Excalibur, it can't be used when free images are easily available.--Cúchullain t/c 21:55, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
