Sukerchakia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Sukerchakia Misl was one of 11 Sikh Misls in Punjab during the 18th century. The Sukerchakia last Misldar (commander of the Misl) was Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
Its' origins date back to the demise of Banda Bahadur, and his generals. Bhai Binod, however, escaped and carried out the struggle. Grouping together the scattered Sikh jathas, he formed 5 Misls. Shortly later 7 more misls were formed (1 was expelled from the panth). The Sukerchakia Misl was the 4 Misl and (by 1780) the second largest.
