The Atreyee English Medium School, Balurghat, affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) was established in 1976. Initially classes were held at the District Library,near Balurghat College. Later it was shifted to Mongalpur,in the western part of Balurghat which is its present & permanent location. In Balurghat, it is colloquially referred to as KG School.
It has classes from Nursery to Class XII. It is a co-educational school.The uniform for boys is maroon trousers and white shirt with maroon tie. For girls up to 7th standard,its maroon skirt & white shirt with maroon tie & 8th standard onwards, sari in maroon & white combination — with black shoes and white socks(for both boys & girls).
