Valentin Schiedermair

Valentin Schiedermair, born 28 October 1963 in Frankfurt/Main, Germany is a German concert pianist who lives in London. He is married to Pianist Dai Chi Chiu.

At the age of five Valentin studied with Elizabeth Bleile in Heidelberg. At 16 he took first prize at the Leimener piano competition and his recordings were broadcast on german radio. At 17 years he studied with Paul Dan at the college of music Heidelberg Mannheim and had tuition with Halina Czerny-Stefanska and her husband Ludwig Stefanska. At age 20 he won a competition in Barcelona and was awarded a scholarship to study in New York, where he studied with Gary Graffman, one of Vladimir Horowitzs' favourite pupils. He then continued studying at the university in Vienna with Hans Can and later with Peter Wallfisch at the Royal College of Music in London.

He has a large demand for master classes and regularly teaches in Europe and Asia. He mainly performs the works of Frédéric Chopin, Robert Schumann, Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Liszt. He is frequently invited to perform at festivals. In November and December of 2006 he competed a tour of China and Taiwan.
