Frederick Jay Rubin, es un múltiple ganador del Grammy, Productor discográfico estadounidense mejor conocido por su trabajo con el rap y el heavy metal, así también por la serie de discos de "American Recording" con Johnny Cash. Rubin fue una figura importante en la fusión del rap y el hard rock, poniendo juntos a Aerosmith y a Run-D.M.C para su canción éxito "Walk this way". Rubin también fue clave para la fusión del rap y el heavy metal en el metal alternativo, nu-metal y otras formas. MTV lo nombro "el productor mas importante de los últimos 20 años"[1]
Ademas de ser productor,también es un músico, sirviendo como el DJ original de los Beastie Boys, y cabeza de empresas discográfica, co-fundando Def Jam Records con Rusell Simons, y más tarde fundando American Recordings.
