FC Pakhtakor Tashkent is an Uzbek football club, playing in the capital, Tashkent.
It has been the undisputed powerhouse in Uzbekistan since the fall of the Soviet Union, winning the last four championships (six total) as well as the last four domestic cups (seven total). The team is a perennial competitor in the AFC Champions League, having reached the semi-finals of the competition twice in 2003 and 2004.
The team was slightly less successful in the USSR Championship, appearing the highest eschelon 22 times, while recording 212 wins, 211 draws, and 299 loses. They were the only Uzbek club to play at top-level. Their best achievement was 6th place (twice in 1962 and 1982). Pakhtakor were the finalists of the Soviet Cup in 1968 - the only Central Asian club to reach a Soviet Cup final.

[edit] The Birth (1956)
The day of it's first official match is considered the birth of the team. The first match in the championship was on April, 8th, 1956. It was played with a team from the city of Perm, Russia (then Molotova). The unique goal was scored by Lazez Maksudov from a foul shot. It had appeared to be a victorious shot.
The team was formed in three months. The team invited the senior trainer Valentine Borisovich Bekhtenev from Moscow. He recruited the best Tashkent players of different clubs.
