[edit] Idents
Does anyone know the year that the first ident picture started? I put "Used until 2004" in hopes that someone would be able to put the start date. I only got paytv in 2002 so i'm not sure what was used before then. Andrew
[edit] Future
Does anyone else think this channel is slowly being positioned as a fourth commercial television network? Some reasons this came to mind:
- -Logo similarity to the US Fox network, and similarity of content (mostly entertainment, little news)
- -Large NewsCorp presence in Australian media in general, but no over-the-air presence
- -Use of number 8 (existing Australian commercial networks: 7, 9, 10)
With the media deregulation coming about recently, it seems likely Mr Murdoch could if he wanted get his fingers into yet another field. I don't know, but this popped into my head while watching the Simpsons tonight. --Xyzzyva 09:58, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- I could see it becoming a digital channel eventually perhaps. Although it uses alot of content which the networks have, unless they make a exclusive deal with FOX (which would be easy as they owned by the same parent company) they would be low on content. - Mike Beckham 11:10, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Ten have first pick of Fox content with Foxtel being able to get exclusive rights to the Fox content that Ten passes up. Fox would be looking at getting the most amount of money for their shows and fta networks seem to have much more to throw around than foxtel. I think Fox8 will remain the main channel for pay tv for quite some time. :/ Although if News purchases Ten........ Andrewag 07:26, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- FOX10 anyone? :P - Mike Beckham 07:28, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

"FOX8 and FOXTEL have a deal with Network Ten to recieve their shows bought from 20th Century FOX television. Some shows like this are The Simpsons, Futurama, The Simple Life and more."
Where is this stated? Seems silly to buy the rights from ten and not straight from fox. Yes, ten have first run rights, but as i understod the agreement fox8 could buy rights to programs that ten rejects and can buy rights (from 20C fox) to shows that ten have already shown. Anyone know??? Andrewag 11:56, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
