French twist (hairstyle)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A French Twist is a common, simple and elegant "Updo" hair styling technique. It is created by gathering hair in a low ponytail (not secured) and twisting the ponytail upwards until it turns in on itself against the head. It is then secured with pins, clips, sticks, or a comb.
Variations on the Updo include the "Downtown Updo" a sophisticated hairstyle created by Roy Teeluck. This hairstyle can be created by Sectioning off the front and sides of hair from ear to ear and clip to the top of your head to be styled in Step four. Then, take a large section of hair at the crown, tease it to its fullest and roll into a rough bun. Pin into place. Unclip front and side sections of hair and divide them into several smaller sections. Tease each one with a wide-tooth comb. Using a natural bristle brush, smooth out each teased front section and pull it back and over the bun. Pin into place. Repeat until the bun is completely covered with smoothed front sections. Using a brush, smooth the rest of your hair over one shoulder. Lightly mist all over with hairspray to control frizz and add a glossy sheen. Downtown Updo
