Aretha Louise Franklin, Queen of Soul (s. 25. maaliskuuta 1942, Memphis, Tennessee), on yhdysvaltalainen soul-, rhythm and blues- ja gospel-laulaja.
Kuulun baptistipapin C. L. Franklinin neljäntenä lapsena Aretha Franklinilla oli musiikillinen pohja vahvasti gospelissa. Perheen asuessa Detroitissa lapsuudenkodissa vieraili muun muassa sellaisia mustan musiikin merkkinimiä kuin Sam Cooke, Art Tatum, Jackie Wilson, Mahalia Jackson sekä Arethan erityiseksi esikuvaksi muodostunut gospel-laulaja Clara Ward, joka opetti hänelle laulua ja pianonsoittoa.
1960-luvun alussa John Hammond löysi Aretha Franklinin Columbia Recordsille, missä hänestä koetettiin tehdä ensi sijassa jazz-laulajaa. Columbian vuosina uralle ei osunut vielä suuria hittejä, mutta tilanne muuttui, kun levy-yhtiö vaihtui 1967 Atlantic Recordsiin. Aikaa 1960-luvun lopulla ja 1970-luvun alussa kutsutaan Aretha Franklinin kultakaudeksi: hän tuli tunnetuksi muun muassa sellaisten klassikoksi muodostuneiden kappaleiden esittäjänä kuin "I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)", "Chain of Fools", "You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman", "Think", "I Say a Little Prayer", "Baby I Love You", "The House That Jack Built" ja "Respect".
Aretha Franklin teki näyttävän roolisuorituksen vuoden 1980 elokuvassa The Blues Brothers ja esiintyi sittemmin myös elokuvan jatko-osassa The Blues Brothers 2000 vuonna 1998.
Vuonna 1987 hän sai ensimmäisenä naispuolisena musiikin edustajana nimensä Rock and Roll Hall of Fameen.
