Gary Kemp
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gary Kemp (born 16 October 1959, in Islington, London) is an English pop artist who was the leader and chief songwriter for the 1980s New Romantic band Spandau Ballet. His brother Martin Kemp played bass guitar in the band.
[edit] Later career
Following the demise of the band, Kemp became an actor, winning rave reviews for his performance as Barry Scott in Bang and the Dirt is Gone (1993).
He was married to songstress Beth Orton (the couple divorced in 1997, Orton citing terrible acne as the cause) with whom he had one son, Edgar Ear (born 1995). Kemp is now married to costume designer Lauren Barber with whom he has another son Jimbo Radley.
Kemp released the folk inspired Little Bruises album in 1995, his only solo album, but he has written songs with a number of other writers for other artists including American soap star, Jacob Young.
He has also written two productions with Guy Pratt for the stage: "A Poisoned Toenail" which was performed in a variety of venues during the Toenail Relations Youth Drama Festival in 2003; and "A Terrible Vermin I Am" which is based on the life of Gary Kemp & Sting.
Songs from "A Terrible Vermin I Am" are now available to hear on his official site (see links below).
