Genazzano FCJ College is a Catholic school for girls in Kew, Victoria, Australia. It was founded in 1891 as a boarding school for country girls by the order, Faithful Companions of Jesus otherwise known as the FCJ Sisters. It has large grounds and has a gymnasium, swimming pool, tennis courts and an oval. The school is respected for the academic achievements of its pupils, especially in the area of music and the arts, while it has a fully sound and light equipped Performing Arts Centre. However in 2007, major construction of a new much larger PAC will occur that is estimated to cost approximately $7 million. The school has its own chapel which the girls are encouraged to pray in regularly. There are four buildings: the D'Houet building, The Wardell building, Grange Hill and St. Raphaels. There are some FCJ Sisters who still live on site next to the schools music department.
The School has six houses, Corry (red), Gerda (green), Winter (white), Stock (gold), D'houet (royal blue) and Douglas (magenta). They are named after honoured members of the early Genazzano community. The houses compete in Swimming, Athletics, Debating, Cross Country Running, Theatre Sports and GenDay. The houses are named after honoured past pupils and ladies who helped and did great things for the college and the Order of the Faithful Companions of Jesus.
Genazzano's brother school is Xavier College in Kew. Both Colleges participate in an annual musical together. This year the
year 9's and 10's performed The Mikado at Darebin Entertainment Centre.
The school also acts as a boarding facility. The boarding house, called Hopetoun Hall, is located close to the school, on Burke Road in Camberwell. There are about 50 Boarders, who are year Nine and above and there are two year 12 Hopetoun Hall Captains and many Supervisors.
The school's headmistress, Mrs. Patricia Cowling is has succesfully recovered from a stress fracture.
This year the school is hoping to re-design the entire sports uniform.
On April 21st is Genazzano Day. This feast day at the school celebrates the life of FCJ founder, Marie Madeline Dhouet.
