The North African Gerbil, Gerbillus campestris, is mainly distributed along the Atlantic coast of the Sahara, as well as parts of Somalia. Like other Gerbillus species they live in dry, sandy, and rocky landscapes, often sparsely vegetated. Their diet includes insects, nuts, grasses and roots. They are nocturnal.
