Girls, Girls, Girls is the fourth studio album, released on May 15, 1987 by hard rock group Mötley Crüe. The record featured a more blues-influenced sound than previous albums and featured the hits "Wild Side" and "Girls, Girls, Girls", which remains a strip club anthem to this day. The album is unique in that the week it was to peak at number 1 on Billboard, Whitney Houston's second album, Whitney, entered the charts at number 1 - while it had been proven without a doubt that Girls, Girls, Girls had been the highest selling record in the nation that week.[citation needed] A hard rock/metal band was basically held out of the number 1 position, literally blocked in favor of a more 'adult-contemporary' artist.[citation needed] While Mötley Crüe had basically been cheated out of their first number 1 record,[citation needed]1989's Dr. Feelgood would go on to claim the top spot. Controversy also surrounded Girls, Girls, Girls' third single, "You're All I Need", which, although a ballad, featured lyrics that detail a lover's grisly murder.
