Greetsiel
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Greetsiel is a small port on the river Leybucht in western East Frisia, Germany. Greetsiel was first mentioned in letters from the year 1388. Since 1972 Greetsiel has belonged to the municipality of Krummhörn, with the administrative seat in Pewsum. The nearest railway station is at Emden, about 15-20 kilometers away, and the two towns are linked by a bus service. Although originally a fishing village, Greetsiel has moved on to become a major tourist attraction. As of 2005, it has 1588 inhabitants.
Among other attractions, Greetisel hosts a rather large ship in a bottle museum.
