Grey of Macha

The Grey of Macha was the more favored of the Irish hero Cúchulainn's two horses, according to the Ulster Cycle of Irish mythology. The other was the Black Sainglain. The Grey was the king of the horses of Ireland. He stayed by Cuchulainn to protect him after Cuchulainn was hit by Lugaid mac Con Roí's spear in the battle of the Táin Bó Cúailnge. Lugaid subsequently killed him with another spear.
