Han Mahmud (Khan Mahmud) is a famous lord of the Kurds in 19. century.
He was born in Mukus (a town of Van, Van is a East Turkey city now), and after his father Abdi Beg's death, he became Lord (Mir) of the Mukus Kurdish Emirate. During his life, he fought against the Ottomans for his people's freedom. In 1847 their revolt, which was organized with Bedirhan Beg the Lord of Cizır-Botan, was quashed. The Ottomans took them out of the Kurdistan Region as prisoners. They sent Bedirhan Beg to Cretan Island and sent Han Mahmud to Rousse (now a Bulgarian city). Han Mahmud lived there and could not return to his land and died in Rousse in 1866.
