Hanney
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Hanneys are a group of villages (East Hanney and West Hanney) in west Oxfordshire in southern England, in the UK.
They are approximately 3 miles north of the town of Wantage, and lie in the flat marshy area of south-central Oxfordshire (previously Berkshire). The villages were originally islands in the marsh, hence the -ey ending of their names. See also Goosey, Childrey and Charney nearby.
Populations according to the 2001 census were 796 (East Hanney) and 496 (West Hanney).
