Heathcote Howard Hammer

Heathcote Howard Hammer CBE, DSO and Bar, was an Australian Army Brigadier in World War II. Born on 15 February 1905 in Southern Cross, Western Australia. He later lived in Bendigo, Victoria and enlisted on 10 June 1940 - Service Number: 3107396 (VX24325). Married to Mary Hammer.
In 1945, he was the Commanding Officer of the 15th Australian Brigade, Bougainville. After the war he became Commissioner for Repatriation in Victoria, Australia. His son, Kerry Hammer, became a Primary School teacher with the Victorian Education Dept. During his late twenties, he travelled to UK, where he became a successful toy manuafacturer.
