Herma Marksman

Herma Marksman is a Venezuelan historian. She was current Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez's lover and mistress of ten years while he was still doing graduate coursework for his degrees and in the military.
She was born of a peasant woman and a German immigrant who worked as an ironworker union organizer. When she met Chavez, she was in her thirties and he was in his twenties. She helped him in his academic work. They both were students of socialism and idealistic. After the failed 1992 coup attempt, Chavez became popular and left his first wife and mistress.[1]
She now repudiates him, and describes his government as imposing a "fascist dictatorship".[2]
