Holger Börner

Holger Börner (February 7, 1931 – August 2, 2006) was a German politician of the SPD. He was Prime Minister of Hesse from 1976 until 1987.
Afterwards (until 2003) he was chairman of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, also known as Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES). The FES is a private, non-profit organization committed to the principles and values of social democracy. FES was established in 1925 to honor the legacy of Friedrich Ebert, Germany's first democratically elected President.
The Foundation supports education, research, and international cooperation from its offices in Bonn and Berlin and through branch offices in more than 90 countries ([1]).
Börner died of cancer at the age of 75, survived by his wife and children.
