[edit] Origins
Hoti are of either Albanian or Serb origin. The founder of the clan, Oto (or Hoto), was the brother of Vaso, Kraso, Oto, Ozro, Pipo and possibly Lazar, Ban, Mrkota and Brato. They were ancestors of the Montenegrin tribes Vasojevići, Piperi, Ozrinići, probably Bratonožići and Mrkojevići and the Albanian tribe Krasniqi. Their father was probably Keća Pontin, Lazar (the possible brother of Oto) or Nikola Gojkov. The Hoti clan might originate from Kuči.
According to legend, Gheg Lazar came to this land (northern Albania) with his four sons, and it is from these that we of Hoti descend ..Lazakechi (Hoti), Piperkechi (Piperi), the Vasokechi (Vasojevići), and the Kraskechi (Krasiqi).
