Iceboarding
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Iceboarding is a boardsport much like skateboarding that involves a skateboard deck and ice or hard snow. The object of this is to do things that a skateboarder might do. Only without wheels or trucks or any form of elevation.
[edit] Items Required
- (1) Skateboard deck, complete with griptape and nothing else.
- (1) Icy hill or ramp.
- (1) Desire to do something new with enthusiasm.
Skateboarding shoes give a good feel for the board, suggested types are waterproof ones like the DVS Bexley Snow.
Thick pants and a thick sweatshirt are good ideas because when one falls onto crunchy snow, it hurts a great deal.
[edit] Some Easy Beginner Tricks
(Boneless) Take front foot off the board. Keep back foot firmly in place. Put front foot on the ground. Grab side of board opposite to the foot on the ground. Jump with front foot, pulling up back foot and landing it.
(Boneless 180) Same as a boneless, just add a little spin to the jump.
(Boardslide) This is tricky but is worth it. Go down a hill and find a ledge or stick or something like that. If you are on icy snow, this should be a piece of cake. Turn board at a 90 degree angle, FS (frontside) or BS (backside). Keep body facing forwards to see where you are going so you don't mash your face on something, for Goodness sake. Land it, turning board back the 90 degrees you came.
(Fingerflip) Go for a boneless, but flip the board on jump removing back foot when in the air and landing both feet on the board.
