Iki jime

Iki-jime literally means "stab death" in Japanese. It is a traditional tool consisting of a spike or awl used by Japanese fishermen to destroy the brain of a fish in an efficient manner. Many individuals in the West have begun to adopt the method in light of concerns about humane treatment of animals in slaughtering methodologies.
