Indian Resistance to Early Muslim Invaders Up to 1206 A.D. is a book by Ram Gopal. It was published in 1983. It has ten chapters. In the fifth chapter, the author reproduces Sanskrit inscriptions which describe historical events.
The book is about the early medieval invasions of India. He also examines the theories of Elphinstone, Naim, M. Habib, and K. Nizami.
The author describes that the invading armies did not have the same "success" in India that they had had in other countries. In particular, in the course of discussing the fall of modern-day Afghanistan and the many failures of the Ghaznivids, he recounts the story of Jayapala who tried to recapture Kabul in 986-987. According to the author, Jayapala “was perhaps the last Indian ruler to show such spirit of aggression, so sadly lacking in later Rajput kings”.
