[edit] Site History
inthemix was founded by Andre Lackmann (djdrey) and Libby Clark in their spare bedroom, in Sydney, Australia in November 1999. The website was first created more as a programming exercise more than anything else. Andre built a site, while Libby managed the content. Initially built as a means for their friends who'd moved ovrseas to keep in touch with the goings on in Sydney, it also allowed fellow clubbing fans to login and submit news, reviews and later photos from the clubbing scene, creating a user-generated content Web site.
During the year 2000 the core team grew to include Matt Callander, and Neil Ackland. Matt Callander found the website by chance and became involved in helping build the Web site's audience. Matt met Neil Ackland, whose background in sales helped build the site's brand. Libby theb started managing the site's growing team of contributors.
The site continued to grow during 2000 and 2001. Andre quit his day job in February 2001 to concentrate on developing and building the inthemix backend and infrastructure.

In 2004, ITM published its first annual magazine, featuring a mix of local talent such as Hilltop Hoods, Phil K and Infusion alongside international stars such as Scissor Sisters and Armin Van Buuren. The magazine has tens of thousands of subscribers.
