Orso rosso himalayano

Lo Dzu-Teh è l'orso rosso himalayano (Ursus isabellinus Horsfield). Alcuni studiosi sostengono che l'Ursus isabellinus «sia da considerarsi una specie a tutti gli effetti», mentre altri ritengono che «sia possibile che questa specie sia più imparentata con gli orsi delle caverne che non con gli orsi bruni, e credo che debba venire classificata nel genere Spelaeus».
L'orso rosso himalayano è spesso associato con l'orso blu himalayano (Ursus pruinosus, Blyth) e con l'orso bruno himalayano (Ursus arctos isabellinus) riguardo il mito dello Yeti.

Lo Dzu-Teh, termine nepalese, è collegato con la leggenda dello Yeti, e più tardi con quella dell'Abominevole Uomo delle Nevi (a partire circa dal 1921), in primo motivo a causa della sua stessa localizzazione himalayana.

Nel corso della spedizione alla ricerca dell'Abominevole Uomo delle Nevi organizzata dal Daily Mail nel 1954 Tom Stobbart incontrò uno Dzu-Teh. Questo fatto è raccontato da Ralf Izzard nel suo libro, il rapporto che venne effettuato dopo la spedizione il 7 maggio 1954. Ralf Izzard era il corrispondente del Daily Mail in quella spedizione.
