Kingston (formerly Apple Tree Cove) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,611 as of the 2000 census. Kingston is along the shores of Apple Tree Cove and the Puget Sound, and is home to a major Washington State Ferries terminal linking it to Edmonds. Kingston's schools include Kingston Co-op Preschool, Gordon Elementary, Kingston Junior High School, Spectrum Community School, and Wolfle Elementary and Kingston High School will open in September 2007.

(47.798764, -122.499071)According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 6.3 km² (2.4 mi²). 4.3 km² (1.6 mi²) of it is land and 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²) of it (32.10%) is water.

Founded in 1853 by Benjamin Bannister the community was originally known as Apple Tree Cove, By 1880 it was a lumber town until the mill closed down in the early 20th century. Known as the "Little city by the sea", Kingston is the northern gateway to the Olympic Peninsula. Now it is the social and economic center of the north end of the Kitsap Peninsula.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there are 1,611 people, 786 Males (48.8%), 825 Females (51.2%), 685 households, and 452 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 377.0/km² (977.2/mi²). There were 773 housing units at an average density of 180.9/km² (468.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 91.06% White, 0.25% African American, 1.18% Native American, 2.30% Asian, 0.99% Pacific Islander, 1.61% from other races, and 2.61% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.73% of the population.
There were 685 households out of which 30.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.9% were married couples living together, 7.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.0% were non-families. 26.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.35 and the average family size was 2.86.
In the CDP the population was spread out with 23.8% under the age of 18, 4.4% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 27.7% from 45 to 64, and 15.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 95.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.6 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $40,347, and the median income for a family was $54,583. Males had a median income of $43,839 versus $25,781 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $24,212. About 9.2% of families and 11.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 17.9% of those under age 18 and 13.7% of those age 65 or over.

Kingston Junior High School is located in Kingston, WA and offers grades 7, 8, and 9.

Kingston High School is the new high school located in Kingston, WA. The school is currently being built and will open in September 2007 offering grades 9 through 12.

In September of 2007 Kingston schools will change the grades that they offer to students.
Gordon Elementary, which currently offers grades K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.
