| 1 The "Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela" has been the full official title of the state since the adoption of the 1999 constitution, when the state was renamed in honor of Simón Bolívar. 2 Prevously "Dios y Federación" ("God and Federation") 3 The Constitution also recognizes all indigenous languages existing in the country. 4As of January 31, 2007 the National Assembly granted President Hugo Chavez Frias the ability to rule by decree for 18 months in 8 broadly-defined areas including the Economy, and Defense.[1] |
