Leytonstonia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Leytonstonia was a name for a physical section of the M11 link road protest, in the Leytonstone area of London, United Kingdom.
It was alongside Wanstonia in Wanstead, London.
Unlike the rooftops protest at Wanstead, Leytonstonia was a protest in trees. Protesters lived in treehouses and tent-like benders made from willow branches.
When the protesters were evicted from this camp (violently and unlawfully, they claimed) most squatted the few empty buildings remaining on the route or moved to the famous "last stand" of the campaign at Claremont Road.
