[edit] C++
You are, surprisingly, wrong about not needing to include ostream in the hello, world example. See the article's discussion page for an explanation. --Yamla 20:18, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
- I should have never picked that battle. I changed it back, and hopefully no one will come along and do it again MadCow257 21:10, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Three forms of mathematical induction
This article was intended to be comprehensible to all mathematicians.
It was not intended to teach mathematical induction. It was not intended to explain what mathematical induction is, nor how to use it.
What I see is (mostly) a bunch of non-mathematicians looking at the stub form in which the article appeared when it was nominated from deletion, and seeing that
- It was not comprehensible to ordinary non-mathematicians who know what mathematical induction is, and
- The article titled mathematical induction is comprehensible to ordinary non-mathematicians, even those who know --- say --- secondary-school algebra, but have never heard of mathematical induction.
And so I have now expanded the article far beyond the stub stage, including
- Substantial expansion and organization of the introductory section.
- Two examples of part of the article that is probably hardest to understand to those who haven't seen these ideas.
- An prefatory statement right at the top, saying that this article is NOT the appropriate place to try to learn what mathematical induction is or how to use it, with a link to the appropriate article for that. It explains that you need to know mathematical induction before you can read this article.
Therefore, I invite those who voted to delete before I did these recent de-stubbing edits, to reconsider their votes in light of the current form of the article.
(Nothing like nomination for deletion to get you to work on a long-neglected stub article!) Michael Hardy 23:26, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Images you tagged for deletion
You nominated a number of images on Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion/2006 March 4 for deletion and noted that all of them did not have copyright or source information. However, you failed to notify the uploaders of the nomination. Because of the rules for deleting images, I can't do anything about them now. Additionally, next time it's probably just easier to use {{subst:nsd}} or {{subst:nld}} for no source/no license respectively and let the speedy deletion process take care of it rather than put them through IFD (it's still best to notify the uploader in those cases too but at least it's optional there :) ). Thanks. howcheng {chat} 00:20, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
- I assumed (incorrectly?) that it would be easier to list them because then an admin could do a copy paste kind of thing. Unfortunately I didn't notify though :( MadCow257 03:00, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
- The no source/no license route is actually much easier because it's Wikipedia policy (see WP:IUP) that all images have a source and a license. If either is missing, then the images can be just deleted without further discussion. Also, when tagging for no source/license, each image is filed into categories by date so that it's easy to find. It's also less work for you. :) howcheng {chat} 07:24, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] wikEd
Hi, I have seen that you are using the Cacycle editor extension. This program is no longer actively maintained in favor of its much more powerful successor wikEd.
wikEd has all the functionality of the old editor plus:• syntax highlighting • nifty image buttons • morefixing buttons • paste formatted text from Word or web pages• convert the formatted text into wikicode • adjustthe font size • and much, much more.
Switching to wikEd is easy, check the detailed installation description on its project homepage. Usually it is as simple as changing every occurrence of editor.js into wikEd.js on your User:YourUsername/monobook.js page.
