Magic Christian Music is an album by power pop band Badfinger, released in early 1970 on Apple Records. Three tracks from the LP are featured in the film The Magic Christian, which also gives the album its title. However, Magic Christian Music is not the official soundtrack album for the film.
The three album tracks used in the film, "Come And Get It," "Rock Of All Ages" and "Carry On Till Tomorrow," were produced by Paul McCartney (the first was also composed by McCartney). Aside from one remaining McCartney-produced track, the other tracks were produced by Tony Visconti and Mal Evans. "Come And Get It" was released as a single, and it charted in the Top 10 in both America and Great Britain.
All tracks appearing on this album were recorded in 1968 and 1969 while the band were still operating under the name The Iveys. In fact, many of the songs included here appeared previously on the Apple album Maybe Tomorrow, released under the name The Iveys. The band line-up during those years included bassist Ron Griffiths. Griffiths departed the band shortly after the McCartney sessions in late 1969, which in part led to the grab-bag nature of Magic Christian Music. Griffiths was replaced by guitarist Joey Molland in November 1969, but his addition came too late to be included on any album tracks. The album itself peaked at #55 in the US charts.
