Mankar Camoran (Born ?? - 3E 433) is the Altmer leader of the Mythic Dawn cult in the fictional Elder Scrolls universe. He appears in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion as one of the main antagonists.

Born the illegitimate son of the Camoran Usurper and his Bosmeri mistress, Mankar is the author of the Commentaries on the Mysterium Xarxes. He has two children, Ruma and Raven, who also serve the daedra lord. Camoran appears to be a "typical" mage; in reality however, he and his children seem to be immortal. (Raven and possibly Ruma are killed during the main quest. However, both are reincarnated in bodies just like their old ones in Paradise. Mankar, however, is never seen again after he is killed-it is unknown whether Mankar was completely mortal, or if the location of his death made it permanent.) He plays a major role in the game's main questline after his agents steal the Amulet of Kings from Jauffre, the Grandmaster of the Blades. The game's protagonist then embarks on a series of quests to help regain it.

Mankar Camoran's Paradise is a small island realm in Oblivion created by Camoran by using the Mysterium Xarxes. When a member of the Mythic Dawn dies in his service, they ascend to the Paradise. While it appears to be a heaven, it is a hell. In the Paradise, Mankar's Immortal ascended followers are constantly attacked by daedra. If killed, the Immortals are not freed from their hell. Instead, they will come back to life and have to endure the process once more. The only way to escape the Paradise is through a portal called the Forbidden Grotto. To gain access to the grotto, one must gain the Bands of the Chosen. These are only given to people who are highly trusted by Camoran. Once someone passes into the Grotto, they are never heard from again. It is later found out that the Forbidden Grotto is not a place of salvation, but a torture chamber, from which the only method of escape is removal of the Bands. Such a feat is impossible by conventional methods.

[edit] Commentaries on the Mysterium Xarxes

Mankar Camoran's Commentaries on the Mysterium Xarxes is a four-volume set of books written by Camoran. The Commentaries are sought after by those who wish to join the Mythic Dawn. To join it, a potential initiate must find a secret meaning hidden within the books. The player character uses the books in an attempt to recover the Amulet of Kings from Camoran.

In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Mankar Camoran is voiced by British actor Terence Stamp.
While the Amulet of Kings believed to be only wearable by the descendants of allesia -a fantastical claim- Mankar Camoran is believed to be able to the amulet because like Allesia he had the same ideal's in mind, Nu-Mantia, Liberty.
