The Medicine Hat Tigers are a junior ice hockey team in the Western Hockey League who play out of Medicine Hat, Alberta. They won the 2004 President's Cup over the Everett Silvertips in four straight games. This clinched the Tigers' berth in the 2004 Memorial Cup where they would finish third, losing to the Gatineau Olympiques in the semi-final. The Tigers won back-to-back Memorial Cups in 1987 and 1988, and also won the President's Cup in those years as well as 1973. The Tigers play at the Medicine Hat Arena and were granted a franchise in 1970. They have a sell-out streak at The Arena dating back over 135 games. It's expected that in the Spring of 2007 Medicine Hat city council will approve a new $90,000,000 Medicine Hat Events Centre, seating 6,500 for the Tigers. If approved, it's expected to be complete for the 2009-2010 hockey season.
