[edit] School History
The School was constructed in 1974 and opened in 1976 as an overcrowding and distance reliever for nearby South Dade High School, during a large residential boom in the neighborhood it was built in. The very first graduating class at Southridge was the Class of 1978. The school has one of the largest campuses in the district, containing its own soccer, baseball, and especially its own football field, something many other schools in the district lack.
The school has many old traditions that students past and present are familiar with, such as Senior Jerseys, customized athletic jerseys that seniors wear on the last day of the school week and enables them to leave classes early. The graduation year is featured on the jersey, and every year the Senior Jerseys look different.
The school's 1993-1994 Football Team won the State Championship Title. As of the 2006-2007 school year, the school has changed from having a traditional bell schedule (all the classes in one day), to having a block schedule (certain classes on certain days).
[edit] School Uniforms
Since the 2005-2006 school year, Southridge students have been required to wear school uniforms. The uniform conisists of a polo shirt (available in Red, Black, Grey, or White) with the official Southridge uniform logo on it.
