Mind reading computers
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Scientists in the United States and England have been collaborating on the project of building a “mind-reading computer.” This computer would be able to analyze facial expressions of humans in order to decide what they were thinking. Scholars at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Cambridge are working on the computer.
It is expected that the emotion-analyzing techniques could be used in a variety of situations:
- E-commerce could use this device to decide what kind of an advertisement to flash on a consumer’s screen.
- Teaching via the Internet could use the device to decide whether a student is understanding the lesson being taught.
- A camera could be installed in an automobile to judge whether a driver is capable of driving the automobile at the time.
This is a huge step in technology, and could be applied to a large variety of fields. Eventually, we will most likely see webcams being used as a form of analyzation by the computer, rather than just as a way to do conferencing between people.
