From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Monocle is the title of a multimedia venture by Canadian journalist and entrepeneur Tyler Brûlé, spearheaded by a monthly print magazine with the same name.
Described by CBC News reporter Harry Forestell as a "meeting between foreign policy and Vanity Fair", the magazine purports to provide readers with a global prespective on international affairs, breaking away from traditional, regionalized journalistic canons.
The magazine started circulating on February 15, 2007, priced at twelve euros and feauturing articles on subjects as diverse as the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force, Chinese investment in Africa or the best Portuguese-language Sunday newspapers.
