But it seems that many Cyrillic conversion rules have been overlooked entirely.

лимби, for example, is incorrect -- it should be лимбь. Most words ending with consonant and then "i" in the Latin alphabet must use a "soft sign" in Cyrillic.

"eнчиклoпeдиa" is also incorrect. For a summary of rules relating to "ya", "yo", "yu", and "ye" signs, you can check here.

Even those, however, don't cover the full range. Where on the above-linked page it says "only the verb pierde", that's not the full truth. There are quite a few other words like that too, that is just the most frequent.

Words ending in -ii, -ui, -ei, -ai, -oi, should have a й unless it is -iii, in which case it's just и.

Even those don't cover everything -- whether or not "ea" is converted to я varies occasionally -- if it's proceeded by "c", it's about half-and-half (for example, "aceasta" is written "aCHasta"). Otherwise, it's probably about 1% of words with "ea" convert as еа instead of я, depending on how the word is accented, for example "a crea" is "ea".

Unfortunately, beyond that, there are still more rules. It's largely hit-or-miss. I tried automatic conversion (using MS Word macros), but it was always very bad, at least in the La-Cy direction (reverse, however, was perfect!). --Node

Hi Bogdan,

By locking the mainpage with the current content, you have clearly abused your administrator powers. Even if content is not editable, which it is as of right now, it will still be viewable.

The direction of all users to the Romanian Wikipedia is selfish and POV. Also, you have no Cyrillic version of this misleading notice.

Earlier you did not punish Bonaparte for repeated vandalism against my user subpages, then you locked pages in accordance with your own POV, and now this. The evidence against you as an administrator is mounting. Until this fiasco, I thought you were a reasonably neutral guy.

Why did you ban Varul lui Bonaparte for having a "similar username", but haven't banned BOnaparte himself, even tohugh he constantly vandalizes userpages (including with moves)? Don't really know what the last comment here should mean but let me explain the following: On this Wiki there was an awful lot of troll edits. It was not possible to make sysop elections, the active user had 8 oppose votes and one of the trolls who is also indefinitely blocked on English Wikipedia was to win his election for sysop, bureaucrat and checkuser. Because you seem not really active here, I decided in accordance with a steward that someone must do something here - and due to the fact that making elections here does not make sense, yann blocked the trolls around here and reverted the edits. He gave me temporary adminship here in order to keep the Wiki clean of vandalism and trolling and especially in order to make a fair vote possible. It is not fair if user register and vote 5 minutes later without making one edit before and without knowing the peron. Making a vote needed rules and without rules, a serious voting here and nowhere else is possible. The Wiki here is on the right way to be closed, really, if nobody can do something here. I am planning to give my admin status back when here is an active sysop around who looks for that, it might be you or it might be Enype in two weeks. Pill 10:14, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
