The New Idea Society is a band formed by Cave In frontman Stephen Brodsky and good friend Mike Law. Aside from with Brodsky and Law, the band consists of Derek Kerswell, and Chris D'Angelis. Their music ranges from solid rock style songs with edgy guitar riffs to up-beat indie rock acoustics. A key feature of the band's music comes from Brodsky and Law's use of simplistic recording techniques, relying on their instruments to produce the desired sounds rather than using external compresors or outboard gear. Having recorded both of their releases, "Questionare EP" and You Are Awake Or Asleep in their homemade studio which they aptly named NIS Home Studio, New Idea Society freed themselves from external influences from the likes of producers and record companies.
