Altamont Avenue is a thoroughfare business road in the Schenectady County town of Rotterdam, commencing at NY 7 and Curry Road and ending at the Schenectady city line south of Chrisler Avenue. Altamont Avenue continues as a surface street north of that point.
A wide variety of businesses and grade intersections exist along Altamont Avenue, many of them controlled by traffic signals. A center left-turn lane exists along most of the route.
Traffic on NY 7 eastbound turns left onto Altamont Avnue at the terminus, with NY 7 and Curry Road continuing from that point, lending credence to a theory that NY 7 may have once followed this route.
