Nicky Dread

Nicky Dread is the pseudonym of a radio deejay who has been on-air since 1979 on CFRU 93.3 FM, in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Born in England in 1959 Nicky emigrated to British Guiana, and saw it become the independent nation of Guyana.
His interest in Reggae came at an early age, and flourished when he emigrated to England in the mid-1970s. He moved to Guelph in 1977 to attend the University of Guelph where he got interested in radio.
His collection of over 2,200 releases (CDs, albums, 7" 45s, cassettes, etc.) is augmented by drawers of clippings, and databases of Reggae Recordings, People & Anniversaries.
He was awarded the Peter Tosh Memorial Award at the 1997 Canadian Reggae Music Awards.
