Old Forge, New York
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Old Forge is a hamlet on Route 28 in the Town of Webb in Herkimer County, New York. Old Forge was formerly a village, which dissolved its incorporation, but it is still the principal community in the region, and, along with the adjacent community Thendara, forms an extensive business district; primarily directed at tourism during the summer months. Old Forge often records the lowest winter temperatures in New York.[1] The Enchanted forest Water Safari is the main attraction in Old Forge. It is also home to one of the oldest operating summer camps in the United States, Adirondack Woodcraft Camps, which is owned and operated by the Leach family.
The town of Old Forge is the starting point for the Northern Forest Canoe Trail.
