In the course of my time at Wikipedia I have made mistakes. This page lists some of them so that I might prevent myself from making the same mistake again. Seen something that belongs here? Tell me on my talk page.
- 13 December 2006 - This AfD nomination provoked the ire of a few editors. On reflection, a mass nomination was not the best approach, as pointed out by the closing admin.
- 10 August 2006 - reverted additions to Retired numbers in football (soccer) by User:Turdpower believing it to be a hoax. It was actually a genuine edit regarding a youth player who died. My assumption about the username combined with the low profile of the player meant I was mistaken. Lessons: 1. Never judge a contributor by their username 2. My football knowledge has more flaws than I think.
- 24 July 2006 - Got involved in a truly pointless editing dispute on 1994 FIFA World Cup which later got a WP:LAME listing. Lesson: If it is of no real significance - let it lie.
- 19 July 2006 - bit a newbie using a speedy tag on [North Dorms]. Lesson: Think before speedy tagging, particularly if further edits may yet happen.
- 15 May 2006 - speedy tagged Shelbie Bruce as the only content was "she was in spanglish", which I thought was nonsense. Turns out Spanglish is a film. Lesson:ALWAYS Google before speedy tagging.
- 2005 - At one time I used to make edits solely to avoid a redirect, not realising that this is more work for the servers than letting the redirect stay.
