Onllwyn

Onllwyn is a tiny little village in Neath Port Talbot, south Wales, near Seven Sisters. It is also the name of an electoral ward and community coterminous with the village.The ward comprises the Village of Onllwyn itself and the adjacent parishes of Dyffryn Cellwen and Banwen, which is ityself confined to the famous "Roman Road". The Area residents often refer to the environs under the generic of Banwen, as it's easier to pronounce for non-Welsh speakers.

With over 200 years of coal mining firmly behind it, the parish was once home to 5 pits that employed hundreds of men. Now all that remains is a well hidden coal processing and washing plant AKA "The Washery".

Commanding superb views of the Brecon Beacons, the now semi-rural location is a popular target for retiring people due to its peace and quiet.

With a Community College "Dove Workshops" and thriving Shop, POst office, Pub and Famous (some might say"infamous"!!) Rugby team, it offers a pace of life and sense of community long since absent in much of modern britain.
