[edit] Plot summary
In part one of the episode, we learned that when the First Community Church was in financial trouble, Deacon Frye would try to raise funds to save the church. In part two, the Deacon decides to host a telethon to raise those funds!
No sooner does the telethon begin than it struggles to raise money financially. So, singer Lloyd Price is brought in to sing "Personality." This is followed by Deacon Frye's imitation of James Brown, which is soon interrupted by an unexpected appearance by the "Godfather of Soul," who then performs "I Got You (I Feel Good)." While Brown's performance is enough to save the church, the birth of Deacon Frye's first grandchild--a boy--by an overdue Thelma backstage pushes the total to $42,270!
Deacon Frye promises to baptize his grandson when the church reopens. The episode ends with the cast and a choir singing the series' theme song, "Shine on Me."
