Paul Lorber (born 3rd September 1955) is a British Liberal Democrat Politician. Together with Robert Wharton and Chandubhai Patel he represents Sudbury ward in the London Borough of Brent, and is the Leader of Brent Council.
Lorber arrived in Britain as a refugee from Czechoslovakia in 1968, and was educated in Brighton and Kilburn Secondary High School, North London. He then attended Manchester University, graduating with a BA honours degree in 1976, before working as an auditor and tax consultant for firms such as Robson Rhodes, Texaco Ltd and Wembley Plc.
In 1982 Lorber was elected to Brent Council, and has been reelected at every local election since. In 1992, 1997 and 2001 he stood for election to parliament in the Brent North constituency.
Lorber led the Brent Liberal Democrat's 2006 local election campaign, which saw the party win 14 seats to dramatically take control of Brent Council from Labour. Councillor Lorber subsequently became the first Liberal Democrat Leader of Brent Council on Monday 26th June 2006.
He is married to Susan Lorber, and has two sons. Outside politics, Lorber is a Govenor of Barham Primary School and a member of the National Trust.
