[edit] Cleanup
I've tried to tidy this page up and remove some of the NPoV issues. Any comments would be appreciated. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Thomaschina03 (talk • contribs).
[edit] NPOV tag
This article covers only one side of a debate.--Nectar 23:07, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
- [In Response to the Aforementioned:]
- I find that this is not a debate. Race science existed as a very real study. Regardless of its accuracy, morality, or immorality it should still be regarded as a legitimate topic. I believe this topic is very relevant to history today, despite not being a very well known one. To remove the topic of Race Science from Wikipedia, I believe, would call into question the very existence of this subject, but as we do recognize its existence, we recognizte that it had a large portion of influence in an important part of American history. It also very much so ties in to Eugenics in the United States during the late 1800's. Tehpiratemonkey 04:39, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] This article should be deleted
This material is/should be covered by race. I'll start the Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion process unless someone has a good reason to keep. --Rikurzhen 05:48, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
- It seems to me that this topic should certainly have a place on its own in Wikipedia, given the great significance the subject has had, particularly in shaping 20th century history. Vikingviolinist 18:49, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Reverting redirect
Though I am all for being bold and redirecting when called for, this article should not redirect to race and intelligence, which is only one form of race science. Some race science, like the kind used to persecute the Roma people was more a form of race and crime. This should probably either redirect to race or racism, and in either case, the references on this page should be preserved on any page to which this redirects. The information here outlines the historical use of scientific concepts to persecute racial and ethnic groups by helping to justify repressive state policies. Jokestress 15:49, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
- Hm. Are you saying that this is just a POV fork of Physical anthropology? And that that is a Good Thing? Race science in itself is neutral, and so is the current opening sentence (hinting that this article should just be a redirect), but your second sentence (if it is normative rather than descriptive) hints that this article should be something else. I my view, it would be better to present disparaging assessments of research areas there instead of relegating them to a separate article. Arbor 12:51, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
