Rhesa Hawkins Barksdale

Rhesa Barksdale (born 1944) is a federal judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Rhesa Hawkins Barksdale was born in Jackson, Mississippi. He is a graduate of West Point and the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he was a member of the Mississippi Alpha chapter of the Phi Delta Theta men's fraternity.

Barksdale, an appointee of George H.W. Bush has served on the Fifth Circuit since 1990. Prior to his judgeship, Barksdale was an attorney at Butler, Snow, O'Mara, Stevens and Cannada, a law firm based in Jackson, Mississippi. Judge Barksdale was a former clerk for Justice Byron White.
He is also the brother of former Netscape CEO Jim Barksdale.
