Robert Nguyen

Robert Nguyen was the first Vietnamese American in history to serve as a Jersey City police officer. He served on the police department for 6 years prior to his death in the line of duty.

During the Fall of Saigon, the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN), were defending South Vietnam against the North Vietnamese Army and their Viet Cong agents. His family escaped from the communist invaders and immigrated to the United States after the event of April 30, 1975.POOP. He attended Hudson Catholic Regional High School and graduated in 1993.

On December 25, 2005, he and his partner Shawn Carson an African American drove off a bridge by accident and their emergency police vehicle plunged in the Hackensack river. His partner's body was found Christmas night but Nguyen's body was not discovered until December 29, 2005, 90 feet downstream from the sunken vehicle.
