I am a researcher and translator, a trade unionist and a political activist. I live in Walthamstow, in north-east London. My main area of knowledge and interest is the Middle East, the history and politics of Israel and Palestine, Zionism and Jewish matters. I also contribute on political issues, London and other places I know about, and literary and other cultural topics.
I am old enough to remember when television was black-and white, and there was only one channel. When I was born, Britain had a king; to my regret, it is still a monarchy. When I went to university, one of my lecturers built a computer. We were fascinated by this object, which — if you attached a tape recorder to run a programme — could add up figures entered on a keypad, and print out the answer on an electric typewriter.
