San Fernando Gardens, Los Angeles, California
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
San Fernando Gardens is a housing project in the Pacoima district of Los Angeles, California. It was built during World War II to house workers at the nearby Lockheed aerospace manufacturing facilities in Burbank. The project was racially integrated; its wartime black population was the first significant African-American population in the San Fernando Valley. Like the district surrounding it, San Fernando Gardens is now overwhelmingly Latino. It is the northernmost project in HACLA's system.
